Calendar of Events: Holy Week and Easter
The following special events are planned for Holy Week and Easter Sunday at Holy Trinity:
Sunday, March 24: Palm Sunday - Our special Palm Sunday liturgy, along with the dramatic reading of the Passion story, will be featured at our two regular service times (8:30 and 10:45 AM).
Wednesday, March 27: Stations of the Cross @ 6:30 PM - This service “travels” with Jesus on his journey from sentencing, to his crucifixion, and to his burial through 14 “stations” where we pause to pray and reflect.
Thursday, March 28: Maundy Thursday service @ 6:30 PM - This special service celebrates the Last Supper and the washing by Jesus of the feet of his disciples.
Thursday, March 28: Overnight Prayer Vigil from 8 PM to 6 AM - We will have an overnight Prayer Vigil for the purpose of commemorating Jesus' request that his disciples stay up praying with him in the Garden of Gethsemane before his arrest. We invite you to sign up to pray during a specific hour of the vigil. You may pray at the Church or at your home. The sign up sheet will be available on Palm Sunday and on Maundy Thursday.
Friday, March 29: Last Words of Jesus @ Noon - This 3-hour service features short reflections on each of the last seven statements made by Jesus before his death on the cross.
Friday, March 29: Good Friday Evening Service with Tenebrae @ 4:30 and 6:30 PM - We are especially excited about these two special services on Good Friday, which recall the death and burial of Jesus. As we have for the past 10+ years, we will be partnering with our friends from Cathedral Rock Church for this evening, and in addition, our new friends from The Movement Church in Monument will be joining and partnering with us for both of these services.
Sunday, March 31: Easter Sunday Service @ 8:30 and 10:45 AM - Easter Sunday is the high point of the Christian year, where we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ from the dead! Our traditional services at 8:30 and 10:45 are joyful and celebratory, including the ringing bells! While we have some jingle bells and small cowbells that we provide, you are encouraged to bring (or purchase) a bell of your own for this exciting day of praise. (You can bring something cowbell-ish, something school bell-ish, or something more jingle bell-ish. Get creative! The point is to have a lot of JOYFUL NOISE!) And don't forget the baptisms!! We will also have baptisms on Easter Sunday, at both services!
Seating for Services
Available seating in the Holy Trinity Sanctuary will be tight on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Historically, our early service (4:30 PM) on Good Friday is packed! Similarly, we usually see overflow crowds for both morning services on Easter Sunday.
In light of the large number of guests and visitors expected, we ask the following of our regular attenders, if it works for you:
-- Please consider attending the 6:30 PM service on Good Friday, where there are typically available seats; and
-- Please consider choosing to sit in the overflow seating in the Fellowship Hall on Easter morning to make room in the Sanctuary for visitors and guests.
Thank you.
