Re-membered as we remember

Shini Abraham

We eat, drink, and remember. And as we remember, we are re-membered into relationship with him, into Christian life, community, and ministry.

We remember:
• who we are created to be
• we are created to flourish, even in the midst of broken world realities
• through Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, we find salvation, healing, provision
• we are called to partner with God, to be agents of healing to our broken world

Lent Lambs

As we fast from our indulgences during lent, we are rid of the distraction of worldly pleasures and are better able to hear our shepherd calling us. Lent encourages us to have no wants apart from Jesus. By drawing nearer to our shepherd, we can discover the peaceful green pastures to which He is always leading us.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. (Deut 6:4-5)

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it? I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds. (Jeremiah 17:9- 10)

"Yet even now," declares the Lord, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” (Joel 2:12-13)

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. (Psalm 63:1)

If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7: 37-38)

But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water.”  (John 19:34)
